Aix-en-Provence, a beautiful university town usually called “Aix”, is only a 3-hour TGV ride from Paris and about an half hour drive from Marseille. Partly sheltered from the Mistral wind, Aix is a charming small city with student pubs, festivals, elegant boutiques, outdoor markets and concerts, theaters and cafés. In this photo gallery: pictures of mount Sainte Victoire, streets of Aix, restaurants and fountains. Main sights in Aix en Provence:
Saint-Sauveur Cathedral, Town hall, Pavillon Vendome, Cours Mirabeau, Rotonde square with its monumental fountain and in the countryside Mountain Ste-Victoire, immortalized by painter Paul Cézanne. Several interesting museums and among them: Museum of tapestries, Museum of old Aix, Museum Granet and Fondation Vasarely.
